Through the mediums of painting, drawing and installation I explore
the subtleties of landscape. I am interested in our impact on
it as humans and how this relates to time. I create living surfaces
from which to begin my work. This involves finding, staining rubbing
back, creating layers, both deliberate and happenstance. With
the use of resisting oil and water based materials technique looses
control, instinctive layers are born. From this paradox appear
fragments from which to work, clues, history, memories, in and
out of focus. I am to engage the viewer in this paradox and invite
them to reflect on their own response to it.
