'In painting, as with other creative activities, you set your
own agenda, choosing aspects of existence with which you wish
to be seen to be addressing. Such choice underpins the latent
reflexivity of this arena of enquiry and unfolding. For me, the
value of my painting lies in the deployment of time, consideration,
anger and elation onto a surface. Time: for my unconscious to
believe that I'm serious and let some discreet packages out of
its bag. Consideration: when you can sit down by yourself. Anger
and elation: when you are running blind, leaping across oceans
or hitting delicious walls of uncertainty.'
