Statement
Capturing the atmosphere of a place, at a given time, is fundamental
to my approach to landscape painting. The subtle hues of early
morning and the weight of warm evening light, both form the basis
of much of my work, as does the change of mood brought about by
varying weather.Since spending time in Australia, my focus has
been drawn to open landscape. This continues to be important in
my work, along with the remembered sense of journeying through
and becoming familiar with, a particular place. The emotive power
of light and the intensity of colour are integral to the way my
paintings evolve, portraying a subjective response to the landscape.
