Statement
Born in 1972, Catherine Hehir graduated with a BA (Printmaking)
from Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork. She continued
her studies at Limerick School of Art & Design and was awarded
a Higher Diploma in Art Education in 1997 and a postgraduate in
Applied Arts at Ulster University in 2001. She was awarded a Master
of Arts from the Faculty of Printmaking, Ulster University, in
2004. She utilises a wide range of artistic practicies in her
work, from installation, photography, digital art and printmaking.
She has taken part in overseas workshops and residencies in Holland
and in China, and was awarded A.H.R.B funding research in art
and ritual. Her work is represented in several public collections,
including the Office of Public Wotks, University College Cork
and the Arts Council of Ireland and she has participated in numerous
group exhibitions, collaborations and projects both nationally
and internationally. She currently lectures in printmaking at
the Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork. She is a Board
member of Cork Printmakers. "The use of retition, the placement,
the display of objects, layering and overlapping of elements are
all integral parts of my art work."
